This summer of 2012 we started experimenting with raising poultry for meat. We had a late start, got day old turkeys, chicken and ducks in the beginning of August. Even so, we ended up with some small pasture raised chicken in the freezer that are available, for $5.50 a pound. They are quite small, a little over 2 pounds. Some we kept into the winter and plan to use as breeding stock. More on that later.
